1. Purpose and scope

This policy explains how IleraLive ("we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects personal and health information when you use our telemedicine platform. It applies to all account roles: patient, doctor, clinic, pharmacy, and admin. IleraLive is a digital health platform that facilitates video consultations, clinic booking where available, digital prescriptions, lab results, and related care workflows.

2. Legal and compliance posture

We design the platform with HIPAA-aligned safeguards (encryption, access controls, and audit logging for health records) and GDPR-aware data-protection practices for applicable users. We also aim to respect applicable data-protection and health-sector expectations in Benin and the broader ECOWAS region. "HIPAA-aligned" describes our security and audit approach; it is not a claim of formal certification.

3. Information we collect

Account data: Name, email, phone, date of birth, address or commune, language preference, and role.
Health data: Medical history shared on the platform, consultation notes, prescriptions, lab results, documents you upload, and related care schedules.
Technical and session data: IP address, device/browser type, usage logs, and authentication session cookies.
Payment metadata: Transaction identifiers and status needed to confirm prepaid visits. Card or Mobile Money details are handled by payment providers through our payments integration; we do not store full payment instrument secrets in application databases.

4. Who can access your information

You (the patient): Full access to your own account data and health records available in your dashboard.
Licensed clinicians you book with: Access limited to what is needed for your care (visit details, relevant history, prescriptions they issue).
Clinic, pharmacy, and admin roles: Access is role-scoped. Administrative users support operations and quality; clinical content access is restricted by product permissions and is audit-logged when health records are viewed.
Security: Access requires a secure signed-in session. Session credentials are protected and are not accessible from browser scripts.

5. How we use information

We use data to deliver care workflows (booking, video visits, prescriptions, labs), manage accounts, communicate about appointments, process payments, secure the platform, meet legal obligations, and improve the product using aggregated or de-identified insights where appropriate. Optional AI features (for example orientation or clinical drafting tools) are rate-limited and are not a substitute for a licensed clinician.

6. Storage, hosting, and protection

Data is hosted on secured cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. Documents and signatures are accessed through secure links. Medical records are retained according to applicable rules. Access to health information is logged.

7. Cookies and authentication

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in securely. These cookies are for authentication only, not advertising. Technical logs may be processed in regions where our providers operate, under contractual and security controls.

8. Retention

Medical records: Retained for the period required by applicable law and clinical practice (commonly multi-year retention; we target at least 7 years unless a longer legal requirement applies).
Account data: Kept while your account is active; after closure we delete or anonymize non-retained fields within a reasonable period, subject to legal holds.
Technical logs and AI chat transcripts: Technical logs are typically retained up to 12 months. Companion or orientation chat content may be limited, anonymized, or purged on shorter schedules.

9. Your rights

Subject to legal retention rules, you may request access, correction, restriction, or deletion of personal data, and you may object to certain processing or withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. Use your profile tools where available, or contact us.
